Canadian authorities are conducting an investigation into a tragic shooting that left 10 dead at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School. Meanwhile, some reports have identified 18-year-old Jesse Strang as the alleged shooter.

These outlets reported that they got the name from a close family member. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has not yet officially identified the suspect.

A public YouTube account, believed to be owned by Jesse, displays a transgender flag and uses the pronoun “she/her,” according to Juno News.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:20 a.m. local time on Tuesday in Tumbler Ridge, a small community located in northeastern British Columbia, about 1,100 kilometers north of Vancouver.

Law enforcement responded to reports of an active shooter at the school and a public safety alert was issued advising residents to stay indoors.

Officials confirmed that the main suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. However, investigators are still looking into the timeline, possible warning indicators and whether anyone else was involved. Authorities encouraged the community to refrain from speculation and rely on confirmed information as the situation unfolds.
