A 37-year-old Indo-Canadian has been identified as the third homicide victim in Toronto this year.

The TPS release states that around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a call of shots fired in the parking lot of the Woodbine Shopping Center. When they arrived at the scene, they found the man with a gunshot wound. He was then taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries where he succumbed to his injuries and was declared brought dead.
No details have been released about the motive behind the shooting or the suspects involved, although a police spokesman told local media that the shooting appeared to be targeted rather than random.
Speaking to local media at the site Saturday, TPS Inspector Errol Watson was quoted by the outlet Toronto Star as saying, “I understand a shooting like this, especially at a mall, can cause public safety concerns.”

The outlet also reported that a car parked near the mall’s entrance was hit with ten bullet holes on the driver’s side.
Nandakumar, originally from Karnataka, was prominent in the Indo-Canadian community and posted photos on his LinkedIn profile with figures such as Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown.
According to that profile, he was an IT professional who was employed at LTI Mindtree, a subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro Infotech Canada, while earlier working with Cognizant, and had completed engineering studies in Bangalore.
