A neighbor told police they should inspect the roof of 84-year-old Nancy’s home after seeing aerial footage of the property on television.
“You can see in that picture, you can see how white his roof is,” said neighbor Laura Gargano, speaking to CNN. “We had a lot of rain the previous three weeks, so it’s normal for the roof to be a bit dirty after the rain.”

Nancy Guthrie’s neighbor provides key informationNancy’s neighbor advised the police to investigate whether the elderly woman had recently restored her roof, as this could provide possible leads on the suspects.
Gargano noted that the roof of his garage is flat and can easily collect dirt. Therefore, when he observed how clean Nancy’s roof was, it raised suspicions, especially in light of the recent weather events that had affected the area. “That’s one thing to check,” she noted.
Authorities believe Nancy is still alive. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters Friday evening: “What I believe is that Nancy was taken from her home against her will and we need to find her. That’s what I believe. She’s still alive.”
“I believe I have no choice until something shows me, a piece of physical evidence shows me it’s different.”
Savannah and Nancy’s two other children have pleaded with her kidnappers to let her come home as police investigate the alleged ransom note.
Nancy Guthrie Kidnapping: All on the Alleged Ransom NoteLocal news organizations obtained the alleged ransom note about Guthrie, who is currently under investigation by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI.
The notes, whose authenticity has yet to be verified, requested that Guthrie’s family pay his captors in bitcoin, a currency that is largely untraceable.
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the IP address associated with the second emailed note did not match the first note sent to the station earlier this week.
However, Coleman said that “the sender appears to have used the same type of secure server to hide their identity”.
