The White House statement demanded that India eliminate or reduce tariffs on all US industrial products and a wide range of US food and agricultural products.

The White House announced on Friday, February 6, 2026 (local time) that the United States and India have reached a framework for an “Interim Agreement” on “mutually and mutually beneficial trade (the “Interim Agreement)”.

This was further confirmed by PM Modi who said that under the trade agreement, reciprocal tariffs on Indian exports to the US will be reduced by 18%.
