A man allegedly married three women in the last six years and left them after harassing them for dowry, police said on Friday.

Babina station house officer JP Pal said the victims alleged that Sunil Kumar, a resident of Jamura Mahi in Lalitpur district, married them keeping them in the dark about other marriages.

Kumar, who planned to marry for the fourth time, has been booked for cheating, police said.
Victims Shivani Ahirwar, Rakhi and Jyoti revealed that Kumar married them in 2019, 2021 and 2023 respectively.
Shivani, a resident of Gopalpura in Babina, alleged that Kumar assaulted her and threw her out of the house when she was pregnant. She currently lives with her one-year-old daughter at her parents’ house and claims that Kumar is now threatening to kill her, they said.
The women also alleged that Kumar’s intention was to extort jewelery and cash as dowry. After a few months of marriage, he reportedly forced them out of the house, demanding a divorce.
Earlier, a wife filed a case of dowry harassment against him at Jakhaura police station in Lalitpur.
Police have started investigation into the matter and efforts are on to take appropriate legal action against the accused, the SHO added.
