Three people were killed and seven others are in critical condition Thursday after a car crashed into 99 Ranch Market, a Westwood grocery store just a few blocks from UCLA, officials confirmed. Videos from the scene showed chaos as first responders worked to rescue victims.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, an elderly woman was behind the wheel of the car when it struck pedestrians outside the store before lurching forward and crashing into the building.
LAFD spokeswoman Lindsey Lantz said two of the victims were standing outside the market when they were killed. When firefighters arrived, they found several people pinned under the vehicle and had to perform multiple rescues to free them.
Initial information from the fire department indicated that numerous people were injured in the sequence of events, some before the vehicle impacted with the storefront. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
