Former Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh had confirmed on Sunday last week that all NDA partners in the state had been called for a meeting in the national capital.

President’s rule was imposed after months of violence in the state amid ethnic tensions between the Kuki Jo and Meitei communities.

In August last year, Parliament extended the President’s rule by another six months. The Union Home Ministry also granted an extension to the three-member commission of inquiry that is probing the communal violence in Manipur, according to an earlier HT report.

The panel constituted on June 4, 2023 has been extended till May 20, 2026 to submit its report.
