The motion for suspension of Indian National Congress members was moved by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju.
Soon after the proceedings of the Lok Sabha resumed at 3 pm after a brief adjournment, the House suspended eight Members of Parliament (MPs) from the opposition citing “inappropriate conduct”.
The MPs were suspended following a ruckus in Parliament after LOP Rahul Gandhi wanted to read a passage from the former army chief’s unpublished memoirs. Rijiju said the MPs threw the papers during the ruckus after the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha tried to quote an article from the unpublished memoirs of former army chief MM Naravaan.
In view of this, Speaker Dilip Saikia announced the suspension of the following Members of Parliament:
• Manikam Tagore
• Kiran Reddy
• Prashant Padol
• Hebi Eden
• Amarinder Singh Raja Waring
• Gurjit Aujla
• S Venkat Raman
• Dean Kuriakos
