Prime Minister Narendra Modi confirmed and welcomed the trade deal with the US on Monday. PM Mod’s post on X comes shortly after US President Donald Trump Announced that the trade agreement between India and Washington has been sealed.
On Monday night, Trump took to Truth Social to announce that India and the US had sealed a trade deal. India was initially hit with a 25 percent tariff from the US, which was later raised to 50 percent due to Russian oil purchases. However, with a trade deal now in place between Washington and New Delhi, the reciprocal tariff rate stands at a solid 18 percent.
Trump’s announcement on Truth Social comes right after the newly appointed US ambassador to India Sergio Gore It is said that there was a phone conversation between Trump and Modi.

Trump also added that India will reduce its tariff and non-tariff barriers against US goods to zero and pledge to buy US energy, technology, agricultural products, coal and other goods worth more than $500 billion as part of the new deal.
