He was arrested amid tight security and chaos as hundreds of ruling party cadres were demanding an apology from Rambabu for allegedly derogatory remarks against the TDP supremo.

Several leaders of the ruling coalition launched a massive tirade against Rambabu for his comments.

Meanwhile, the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP alleged an assassination attempt against Rambabu and said his life was under serious threat after he was “attacked” by TDP supporters.

Reddy alleged that Andhra Pradesh has devolved into a ‘Jungle Raj’ state and alleged that Naidu was presiding over an atmosphere of lawlessness and political vendetta.

“Violence and assassination attempts against opposition leaders are increasing day by day and are being deliberately carried out to intimidate questioning voices of the government,” Reddy said in a YSRCP press release.

Meanwhile, YSRCP parliamentary party leader YV Subba Reddy has written separate letters to the Union Home Secretary and the Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission, seeking immediate intervention in the alleged alarming breakdown of law and order in the state.
