“Many of us were present at the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Conference in October 2025. This evolved into the November 2025 UN Security Council Resolution. Advancing the plan to end the Gaza conflict is a widely shared priority today. Various countries have announced policies on the peace plan, individually or collectively,” he said, according to PTI.

He also spoke about the situation in West Asia, focusing on efforts to rebuild conflict-torn Gaza. Jaishankar noted that the meeting comes at a time when the global order is undergoing change.

“Nowhere is this more evident than in West Asia or the Middle East, where the landscape itself has undergone dramatic changes in the past year,” the foreign minister said.

Emphasizing the impact of this transformation, Jaishankar said it will also affect India’s relations with the Arab world.

Jaishankar said that the Gaza situation in particular has attracted the attention of the international community.

He recalled the October 2025 Sharm El Sheikh peace conference that culminated in the November 2025 UN Security Council resolution and said plans to end the conflict in Gaza were “a widely shared priority”.

“Different countries have made policy declarations individually or collectively on the peace plan,” he said.

Jaishankar said there are several other situations in the region that “deserve our collective attention”. He gave the example of the conflict in Sudan, which he said was “having a profoundly damaging effect on his society”.

Further, he also mentioned Yemen, which, according to him, has additional implications for the security of maritime navigation. Then there are concerns over Lebanon, where India has troops as part of the UN peacekeeping effort, he said.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has formed a “Peace Board” and invited several countries to join it. The Board is an international organization that seeks to restore stability and peace to Gaza. India has not yet made any call for Gaza to join the “Peace Board”. India’s position continues to support a two-state solution and all initiatives aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region.
