Hospitals in Gaza said Israeli strikes killed at least 29 Palestinians on Saturday (Jan 31, 2026), one of the highest tolls since an October ceasefire aimed at halting fighting.

A day after Israel accused Hamas of new ceasefire violations, strikes broke out across Gaza, including at a tent camp, an apartment building and a police station.
The series of strikes came a day before the Rafah crossing across the border into Egypt, a key phase of last year’s deal brokered as a way to end the war, is set to open.
