Zack Snyder reveals why Christian Bale wasn't cast as Batman in Batman V Superman: I think Bale would have stayed if...'

In a recent interview, director Zack Snyder revealed that Christian Bale’s tenure as Batman has officially ended, which is why he didn’t reprise the role in “Batman V Superman.” Snyder noted that any talks about Bale returning would only be plausible if his version of the caped warrior was still in play, and not hanging up the cowl.

When Ben Affleck was cast as Batman in Zack Snyder’s “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice,” fans reacted with mixed emotions. This is because Christian Bale’s role was so likable. But why didn’t Snyder choose Bale for the widely beloved role? Recently, during a podcast, Snyder discussed the film on its 10th anniversary and revealed why Christian Bale didn’t play Batman in the film.

In an episode of the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, Snyder spoke with host Josh Horowitz about “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.” During the conversation, the director was asked if there was any serious talk about including Bale in the film. “I think if Bale had stayed, and if The Dark Knight Rises ended with Christian Bale standing on a building overlooking Gotham, silhouetted by the lights of Gotham, there would be a serious conversation there,” the director responded.

“If he wasn’t in Italy, retired, drinking and relaxing, if he was currently a crime fighter, I think those worlds could have mixed.” By his words, the director meant that if Bale’s Batman were still active, there could have been a chance of his inclusion in the film “Batman v Superman.”
