In a recent interview with Page Six, Grenier spoke about his desire to be part of the sequel. However, he revealed that he was never approached to reprise his role, despite his wishes. “We’re all fans of the movie, whether we were in it or not,” he stated during the interview. “Obviously it was disappointing that I didn’t get the call to be in the sequel.When asked why he was never approached for the sequel, the actor joked about it and added: “I also understand that there was some backlash with Nate, the character, so that might have something to do with it. All those memes that came out were shocking to me. It didn’t occur to me until I started really thinking about it, and that was probably because I was as immature as Nate was at the time, and in many ways he was very selfish and self-involved…”

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the film’s director also shared that initially there were some plans about sneaking in a quick cameo with Grenier in the role.
However, he stated that there were a lot of time constraints and issues that led to the team abandoning the idea entirely. “I had an idea about sneaking him into a cameo role, and in the end, it was too late in our production schedule to make that happen,” he added.

While appearing in an ad for a popular coffee brand, the actress intentionally addressed her role in the first film and spoke about it being the right time to leave the character in the past and move on. He joked about it and mentioned during the commercial that “He made a mean sandwich. He kind of liked his girlfriend. He wasn’t perfect. So let’s leave Nate in 2006 and keep that good energy going.”The Devil Wears Prada 2, which sees the return of Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt, will hit theaters worldwide on May 1.
