The Tripura government on Tuesday said it has made it mandatory to sing the full version of the patriotic song ‘Vande Mataram’ in all schools along with the national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ during assembly every day.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha shared a notice on

“To promote patriotism, discipline and national awareness among students, the Tripura government has taken an important decision. Henceforth, daily classes in all schools of the state will begin with a whole group performance of the patriotic song ‘Vande Mataram’, followed by singing of the national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’. Through this initiative, besides promoting national unity, respect for cultural heritage, and sense of responsibility towards the nation, the resolve has been taken to shape the next generation into more conscious and patriotic citizens,” CM Saha wrote on X.

The notification issued by the Education (School) Department on July 3 said that the Home Ministry had issued directions on January 28 this year regarding respect, decorum and official releases of the national song. The guideline stipulates that appropriate protocol be observed in all official, semi-official and educational forums to instill national pride and preserve the rich cultural heritage associated with the national song.

“To promote national integration and inculcate unconditional respect for national symbols among the youth, the Education (School) Department of the Government of Tripura proposes to enforce uniform implementation of these guidelines in all government schools, government aided schools and private schools, including all recognized religious schools aided and unaided operating within the administrative jurisdiction of the State of Tripura. It is therefore proposed that the daily academic routine of all schools formally commence with community singing of the full version of the patriotic song ‘Vande Mataram’ following,” the notification signed by the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Tripura said. Rajib Datta, by singing the national anthem “Jan Gana Mana”.
