Travis Kelce may be getting married in the most anticipated wedding of the century, but that topic wasn’t brought up in an additional episode of his “New Heights” podcast that aired Friday. However, Taylor Swift’s name has come up.

Kelsey and his brother Jason Kelsey spoke with surprise guest Prince William on an episode of their podcast released just hours before Travis and Swift are set to celebrate their nuptials at Madison Square Garden in New York.

During the conversation, Jason asked William about the “most iconic moment” at London’s Wembley Stadium: Travis catching a touchdown pass in 2015 during the Kansas City Chiefs’ win over the Detroit Lions, or Travis performing as a “backup dancer” during Swift’s Eras Tour concert in 2024.

“Travis as a backup,” William said with a laugh.

“Definitely a very proud moment in my life for sure,” chimed in Travis.

When William suggested he could repeat that moment in the future, Travis replied: “Listen, if Ty is going to sign up for tour, I’ll gladly make sure we come with you.” [it] Back to life.”

Swift and Travis hung out with William and two of his children (George and Charlotte) when she was in London two years ago for the Eras Tour; Photos posted online show Swift taking selfies with the royal family and Travis.

“That was honestly one of the coolest moments you and the kids ever met that day,” Travis recalls. “Jason and I joke about it all the time. We were so nervous to meet you guys and the royal family. Jason has this running joke where he didn’t know what to do with his beer.”

“Yes, it wasn’t a joke. It was real. … You want to be respectful and know what the protocols are, but it was great, and you were great. The kids were great. Princess Charlotte was still the highlight for me. I have four daughters too,” Jason quipped.

“Congratulations on having four daughters,” William said. “I don’t know how you do it.”

“It’s the toughest job,” Jason agreed.

The conversation also focused largely on soccer (called “soccer” in almost every other country except the United States and a handful of others) and the World Cup, along with American soccer, as you might expect.

When asked if his father, King Charles, sparked William’s love of football, the prince laughed: “Absolutely not. My father hates football.” He said he started playing football after some of his friends from school took him to watch his first match.

William was involved with The Football Association, the governing body for the sport in England, for 20 years, first as president and then taking over as patron from the late Queen Elizabeth. When asked to explain what he does in the role, William joked: “Just don’t mess around.” He said he also hopes the World Cup will be held in England one day and is trying to help with the bid.

Regarding the United States’ hosting of the World Cup, William said the country has done a “fantastic” job so far. When asked about the biggest ‘culture shock’ for English fans coming to America, William replied: “The size of the stadiums, and I think the size of them, will be a big shock to a lot of fans. We know our football really well, so to see bigger stadiums that have an amazing atmosphere that we can emulate here as well, is very big.”

William added that he would “definitely” come to the US for the World Cup final if England made it that far. Travis noted that he will likely be in Missouri training for the upcoming NFL season when that game takes place. “Tell me who I should write to, Travis; we’ll get you out of there,” William joked. “Coach,” Travis replied jokingly [Andy] Reid, listen, Prince William called. “I’ll be back tomorrow.”

Turning to American football, which has had a presence in England for several years, William said the sport was becoming more popular on the island nation, but noted that Britons could use a primer on the rules.

“I think if we could understand the rules a little more here, it might help,” he joked, “because… it’s quite tactical, it’s kind of a short break from playing. Here we’re a little more used to a game that lasts 90-odd minutes; it doesn’t really stop. So… explaining the tactics behind it.” [would make] It’s a little more attractive to most people here.

After the conversation, Travis and Jason marveled that they were able to have Prince William as a guest.

“When we started this thing,” Travis began, as Jason finished, “we thought we’d be talking to such beefy offensive guys, not kings and queens and princes of other countries. Yeah, that’s pretty wild.”

Travis and Swift are expected to get married on Friday in New York, with plans underway at Madison Square Garden for a large wedding. Guests were seen arriving at the venue on Thursday night for what was said to be a rehearsal dinner before a larger party on Friday.

William appeared on the British morning show HHeart breakfast In May, he was asked if he had received an invitation. “No comment,” he said, before adding: “I hope, and I’m sure, there may be an invitation, but we’ll see.” However, according to the peopleWilliam will not be at the wedding.
