Mumbai: After suffering injuries during the IPL 2026 campaign, five-time champions Chennai Super Kings have called up Mumbai youngster Aayush Vartak for mid-season trials. “Yes, Ayush was summoned to court on Tuesday.
“He will arrive in Chennai on Monday evening,” a source tracking the developments told TOI.

With six points from eight matches, CSK is sixth in the table. The 21-year-old Vartak, who hails from Vasai and plays for Parsi Gymkhana in Mumbai’s domestic cricket, captained the Mumbai Under-23 team in the first phase of the Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy (Under-23) last season. Vartak has not represented Mumbai’s senior team yet, but has been part of the senior squad in the last two seasons. The hard-hitting young Turk scored 363 runs in six innings in the 2025 Men’s State A Cup, a tally that included as many as 26 runs (second highest in India after Mukul Chaudhary). He made scores: 132, 92*, 75, and was the top run-scorer for Mumbai in the tournament. In the 2024-25 Cole CK Nayudu Trophy, he scored 770 runs in nine matches – the most for Mumbai – with scores of 192, 102, 105, 77, 59 and 54.He recently won the MCA Under-23 Outstanding Performer Award for the 2024 season.
