'Deeply disturbed': Hindu American Foundation reacts to Trump reposting racist screed targeting Indians, Chinese

The Hindu American Foundation has urged President Trump to delete his Social Truth post where he retweeted Michael Savage calling India a “hell hole.”

The Hindu American Foundation responded to President Donald Trump’s post with derogatory remarks about India at a time when racism has already reached an all-time high, HAF said. The President quoted commentator Michael Savage’s comments in which he referred to India, China and other countries as “hell holes.”

The comment came in the context of the Birthright Citizenship Law and Trump reposted it on the Truth Social website without adding anything to it.“A child here becomes an instant citizen, then brings his entire family from China, or India, or any other hellhole on the planet,” Savage wrote, describing Indians and Chinese immigrants as “gangsters with laptops.”

“They have done more damage to this nation than all the Mafia families combined.

In my not-so-humble opinion. Gangsters with laptops. “They stole from us, treated us like second-class citizens, let the world win, trampled on our flag, etc.”The American Hindu Foundation urged the president to delete the post as it would increase hatred against Indians in the United States. “We are deeply disturbed that POTUS shares this hatred and racism targeting Indian and Chinese Americans.

Endorsing such loud statements as President of the United States would further fuel hate and put our communities at risk, at a time when xenophobia and racism are at an all-time high.

“We ask @realDonaldTrump to reconsider and delete this post and acknowledge the indelible contributions of Asian Americans to our great country,” HAF wrote. But the US Embassy in New Delhi hid the controversy and said that Trump had in the past praised India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Embassy spokesman Christopher Elm said Trump praised India at the world leaders summit in 2025 after the Gaza ceasefire that ended the war between Israel and Hamas. “India is a great country and it has a very good friend at its head who has done a wonderful job. I think Pakistan and India will get along very well together,” Trump said at the time.
