'Building castles in the air': Iran mocks Trump's demand for 'free oil and free Hormuz' amid stalemate

Iran mocked US President Donald Trump’s claims of achieving a breakthrough in the ongoing negotiations, describing them as “building castles in the air.”Iranian state media IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting) published a video of Trump saying: “I think we have very successful negotiations going on right now.”

The US President can also be heard saying: “If that happens, it will be announced fairly soon, and it will give us free oil, a free Strait of Hormuz, and everything will be fine.”

In mockery of the statements, the media channel published a poetic message saying: “We build castles in the air!” Or we have a similar proverb in Persian: “A camel dreams of cotton seed. Sometimes he swallows it, and sometimes he eats it grain by grain!”

This proverb basically refers to “unrealistic or unattainable hopes.”This comes at a time when Iran and the United States are still under a fragile ceasefire, despite the failure of peace talks held in Pakistan. In the latest allegations, Trump said that Iran is ready to hand over its uranium, a major flashpoint in the conflict. “We are very close to making an agreement with Iran,” Trump told reporters at the White House. He added, “We had to make sure that Iran never got a nuclear weapon… They completely agreed to that. They agreed to almost everything, so maybe if they could come to the table, it would make a difference.”Referring to the uranium stockpile, Trump said: “They agreed to give us back the nuclear fallout,” the term he uses for enriched uranium that the United States says can be used to make nuclear weapons.
