Aamir Khan Shuts Down GHOST Direction Rumors; “Pagal kutte ne kata hai mujhe?” What nonsense?

Long dubbed the ‘Mr Perfect’ of Bollywood, Aamir Khan has built a reputation for being deeply involved in every aspect of filmmaking. Over the years, this has also given rise to rumors that the actor is secretly directing several films in which he stars.

However, Aamir has now strongly denied the allegations in his candid style.Speaking at the Screen Academy, the actor said he has only officially directed one film in his decades-long career. Amer said that the credit for his successful films goes to the directors, writers and technicians who shaped them.

From the One-Film Wonder to Aamir Khan’s meticulous script selection

Amer also looked back at the beginning of his career. After the huge success of ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’, he signed several films simultaneously.

Many of them failed at the box office, and it was briefly labeled a “one-film wonder.” This period changed his style of work. He began selecting scripts more carefully and decided to focus on one project at a time, a move that ultimately changed his career.

Aamir Khan says he has directed only one film

Addressing the speculation directly, Aamir said, “First you have to realize that in all the films I have done in these 38 years, I have directed only one film – ‘Taare Zameen Par’.

All the other films are not directed by me, no matter how much you are fed by the media. He also added, “The media has constantly claimed that I am directing ghost films. My point is why would I do that? If I am doing such a great job, why would I put in someone else’s name? Pagal kutte ne kata hai mujhe? What nonsense? It has been an honor to work with extremely talented directors and I have learned a lot from them.”

Every film has a different vision from the director

Amer said that the diversity in his filmography in itself proves that he does not direct every project. He cited ‘Lagaan’, ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Sarfarosh’ and ‘3 Idiots’ as examples. “If I were directing all my films, every one of them would have looked similar. They would have had the same spirit and energy, but they’re not. Lagaan is very different from Rang De Basanti, which is different from Sarfarosh and 3 Idiots. Each director brought his own vision and personality to the film.”

He added: “People give me credit for directing and scripting while I did none of that. I did not write Talaash, Rang De Basanti or Taare Zameen Par. I simply heard these stories, connected with them and wanted to be a part of them.

Aamir Khan says that making films is very difficult

Amer emphasized that filmmaking is a collective process. “As a member of the team, I contributed just like the other 20 people working on the film. I am one of the people involved in the process.”

He also said, “We all want our films to reach as many people as possible. No one sets out to make a film for a limited audience. Some people are simply better at understanding the audience than others. Filmmaking is very difficult, and very few people make consistently successful films.”

Concluding his thoughts, he added: “I’ve been lucky. I’m not modest – I think I have certain abilities. But filmmaking is complicated because many things are out of your control. You have to accept that and enjoy the process. Unpredictability is part of the magic. Sometimes, too much control is not in your favour.”Aamir was last seen in the film Sitaare Zameen Par which received good reviews.
