Meghan Markle’s latest family vacation photos have caused backlash online
Meghan Markle recently took to her Instagram account to share a series of photos from her family vacation with Prince Harry and their children. While many people made comparisons between the images and the famous photographs taken by Princess Diana while on holiday in the 1990s, there were plenty of others who started the debate about how insensitive they really were.
Many people praised the “Suits” actress for posting a deeply personal family moment.
Reportedly, while at Princess Diana’s childhood home in Althorp, the family of four also visited her final resting place. Markle posted the photos with the caption: “Summer vacation.” One photo shared a glimpse of the family walking through greenery, with Archie and Prince Harry holding flowers while Lilibet moved closer to her mother. Many people online called out the actress for sharing the exact photo on her account, commenting that it appeared to be from the place where Princess Diana’s final resting place was.
One person commented that it was “disrespectful, exploitative and gross,” while another shared that “Harry and the boy have huge bouquets of flowers – wonder why at Althorp? So #MeghanMarkle posted pictures of them on the way to #PrincessDiana’s grave.”
amazing. How disrespectful, exploitative and gross. What should really be a very private and personal family moment she posts on her public influencer platform for the world to see.
Of the thousands of photos she took at Althorp, she wants you to know she was at Diana and Harry’s grave.
Many other people commented on similar things online, with some even wondering how Diana’s brother, Charles, who still lives in their ancestral home, could allow a photo like this to be shared online on social media. However, there were a few people who stood by Markle and shared the photos online, with one person commenting that the haters were blowing the situation out of proportion.
Another supporter commented: “They’re not mad because Meghan finally posted the pictures.
Quite the contrary, they have been begging for them, updating Instagram every hour of the day for weeks. They are angry because the photos have created a hole in weeks of false claims that Meghan and her children never came to the UK.
At the time of writing, the Duchess of Sussex has not shared any comments about the backlash.
