Border 2 opened to a strong start at the Indian box office on Friday.
The film collected ₹32.10 crore net on its first day, according to the makers.
The movie released in theatres across the country on Friday.
Early morning shows reported high footfall, with many centres running near full capacity.
Trade sources said the film saw steady crowds from morning to late-night shows.
The response places Border 2 among the biggest openings in recent times.
In a statement, the makers said the film made a “massive entry” at the box office.
They added that audience turnout remained strong throughout the day.
Border 2 stars Sunny Deol, along with Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty.
The film is directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J P Dutta and Nidhi Dutta.
It is the sequel to the 1997 film Border, which was directed by J P Dutta.
The story is set against the backdrop of the 1971 India–Pakistan war.
The film did not release in six Gulf countries.
These include UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain.
This makes it the second recent Hindi film to miss a Gulf release after Dhurandhar.
With a strong opening day, trade analysts will now track weekend numbers.
Saturday and Sunday collections are expected to decide the film’s early box office run.
