The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has postponed the application process for its Group D 2026 vacancy. Candidates can now submit online applications from January 31 to March 2, 2026. The delay comes after the board announced 22,000 vacancies across various departments.

RRB confirmed the revised schedule on its official website. The application process was earlier scheduled to start on January 21, 2026, but has been rescheduled to allow candidates adequate time to prepare and verify their details.

RRB Group D 2026 Vacancy Details

The recruitment drive includes around 22,000 Group D positions. The Engineering Department has the highest number of vacancies, with 12,500 posts, including 11,000 Track Maintainer (Grade-4) positions. Other roles include:

  • Traffic Point B: 5,000 posts
  • Assistant (S&T): 1,500 posts

Zone-wise, Eastern Central Railway has 993 posts, and South Eastern Railway has 1,199 posts. Detailed postings will be shared once the full notification is released.

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must be aged 18–33 years. Age relaxation applies as per category rules: OBC – 3 years, SC/ST – 5 years. The educational requirement will be confirmed in the detailed notification. Early reports suggest that 10th pass or ITI qualification may be necessary.

How to Apply

Applicants must visit the official RRB website rrbapply.gov.in for registration. Key steps include:

  1. New Registration – Fill personal details including name, DOB, parents’ names
  2. Aadhaar Verification – Ensure name and DOB match 10th certificate
  3. Upload Documents – Recent photograph, signature, biometric info
  4. Submit Application Fee – Rs. 500 for General/OBC/EWS (Rs. 400 refundable after CBT)
  5. Final Printout – Save and print confirmation for records

Only one application per candidate per railway is allowed. Multiple applications for different railways will be canceled, though candidates may apply for multiple posts in a single railway.

Aadhaar & Verification Advisory

RRB emphasized that candidates update Aadhaar details and latest photograph before applying. Incorrect or unmatched data may cause delays during verification in later stages.

Selection Process

The selection involves:

  • Computer Based Test (CBT) – 90 minutes, 100 questions, negative marking 0.33 per wrong answer
  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET) – Only three times the number of vacancies
  • Document Verification and Medical Examination

Successful candidates will receive a Level-1 pay of ₹18,000 initially.

Candidates preparing for the RRB Group D 2026 recruitment are advised to regularly check the official RRB website for updates and detailed notifications. The new application window opens January 31 and closes March 2, 2026.
