Royal Enfield has opened a new chapter in its legacy at EICMA 2025, unveiling the much-anticipated Bullet 650. This isn’t just a throwback – it’s a modern reinterpretation of the iconic Bullet, now powered by a 648cc parallel-twin engine. With classic design cues, refined performance, and a global rollout mapped out, the Bullet 650 is generating serious buzz. Expected to hit Indian shores around Motoverse 2025, the launch price is estimated to start at about ₹ 3.40 lakh (ex-showroom).

Design & Heritage: A Classic Reborn

The new Royal Enfield Bullet 650 stays faithful to its roots while embracing modern touches. It sports the signature teardrop fuel tank, adorned with hand-painted pinstripes, and a 3D winged badge that echoes the heritage Bullet styling. The distinctive “tiger-eye” pilot lamps, housed in a casquette-style setup, bring a retro feel, while the LED headlight ensures contemporary lighting performance.

Its frame is no less traditional — a steel tubular spine shared with the Classic 650 — and the bike runs on wire-spoked wheels (19-inch front, 18-inch rear), giving it that classic, planted posture. The single-piece bench seat, boxy rear fender, and chromed handlebars further reinforce the retro identity.

Engine & Performance: 648cc Twin Power

Under the old-school styling lies a refined, modern engine: the Bullet 650 is powered by a 648cc, air/oil-cooled, parallel-twin motor — the same powerplant used across Royal Enfield’s 650cc twin portfolio. It produces approximately 46.4 bhp (or ~47 PS) and 52.3 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper-assist clutch.

The suspension setup comprises a telescopic fork up front and twin rear shock absorbers, while braking is handled via disc brakes on both ends supported by dual-channel ABS. This balance of power and control reflects RE’s commitment to a ride that’s comfortable, stable, and refined — whether on city roads or long touring legs.

Features & Ergonomics: Retro Feel, Modern Function

The Bullet 650 blends vintage aesthetics with practical modern-day features. The instrument console is semi-digital — an analogue speedometer paired with a digital display that shows fuel level, trip meter, gear position, and odometer. For navigation, there’s the Tripper pod, enabling turn-by-turn guidance via Bluetooth.

Riders will appreciate thoughtful touches like adjustable levers, USB Type-C charging port for smartphones, and a comfortable upright riding posture, courtesy of the bench seat and classic handlebar design. The switchgear nods to vintage roots but delivers reliable control — polished aluminium switches evoke old-school charm.

Colours, Variants & Global Rollout

Royal Enfield has introduced the Bullet 650 in two color schemes so far: Cannon Black and Battleship Blue. According to RE’s global strategy, the Cannon Black variant will be among the first to hit the European and North American markets by 2026. (The Economic Times)

For India, the launch is anticipated at Motoverse 2025, scheduled from November 21–23, 2025. (BikeDekho) This timing aligns with Royal Enfield’s broader rollout plan for its 650cc twin models in key markets.

Expected Pricing & Positioning in India

Industry sources suggest the Bullet 650 price in India will start at ₹ 3.40 lakh (ex-showroom). Some reports also speculate a higher-end variant could command up to ₹ 3.70 lakh, depending on trim and accessories.

This pricing places the Bullet 650 close to its 650cc siblings — such as the Classic 650 — while offering a more accessible twin-cylinder experience with its retro design and global appeal.

Why the Bullet 650 Matters Globally & in India

  1. Heritage Reimagined: The Bullet name is iconic in motorcycling history, and this new 650cc version manages to evoke that legacy while embracing modern engineering.
  2. Expanding 650cc Portfolio: With this model, Royal Enfield strengthens its 650cc twin-cylinder family (which already includes the Interceptor 650, Classic 650, Super Meteor 650, Shotgun 650, and more).
  3. Global Ambition: Launching first in Europe and North America and later in India shows RE’s intent to make the Bullet 650 a globally recognized model.
  4. Value for Riders: For enthusiasts who love classic aesthetics but want modern reliability and performance, the Bullet 650 could be a compelling choice — especially with a relatively competitive launch price.

Potential Challenges & Considerations

  • Weight: The 650cc twin platform is known to be heavier; this could affect low-speed maneuverability.
  • Fuel Efficiency: Larger twin engines are unlikely to match the mileage of smaller Bullets, which may concern city commuters.
  • Service Costs: Maintenance for twin-cylinder engines and imported components could be costlier compared to simpler single-cylinder bikes.

The Royal Enfield Bullet 650, revealed at EICMA 2025, is a bold statement — it brings legendary Bullet styling into the modern era with a refined 648cc twin. With its heritage looks, upgraded performance, and global rollout plan, the bike is positioned to be one of RE’s most talked-about launches. As India gears up for its launch around Motoverse 2025, prospective buyers and enthusiasts will be watching closely.

This marks not just a new model, but a new chapter in the Bullet legacy — combining the soul of the old with the power of the new.
