Toyota has unveiled the Urban Cruiser Ebella EV, its first all-electric SUV for the Indian market. Bookings are now open with a token amount of ₹25,000. The company claims a driving range of up to 543km on a single charge.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella EV will take on electric SUVs such as the Mahindra BE6, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and VinFast VF6 when it arrives on Indian roads.
Two battery options
The Urban Cruiser Ebella EV will be offered with 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs. Both versions use a single electric motor.
The smaller battery produces 142bhp and 189Nm, while the larger unit delivers 172bhp and 189Nm. Toyota says the larger battery can return a range of up to 543km.
Features and safety
The electric SUV comes packed with features. Highlights include ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, reclining and sliding rear seats, a wireless phone charger and a JBL sound system.
On the safety side, the Ebella EV offers Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, seven airbags, electronic parking brake and connected car technology.

Cabin and tech
Inside, the Urban Cruiser Ebella EV gets a dual-tone brown and black interior. The layout includes a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
A two-spoke steering wheel with physical buttons, a floating centre console and soft-touch trim across the dashboard add to the premium feel.
Exterior details
Design highlights include all-LED lighting, a new front bumper, 18-inch black alloy wheels and a charging port placed on the left front fender.
Toyota will offer the Ebella EV in multiple colours, including Cafe White, Bluish Black, Gaming Grey, Sportin Red, Enticing Silver and several dual-tone options.
Based on Maruti platform
The Urban Cruiser Ebella EV is Toyota’s version of the electric SUV developed alongside Maruti Suzuki. It shares its core platform and layout with the Maruti e Vitara, while carrying Toyota-specific design and branding.
Toyota has not yet announced full variant details or pricing. More information is expected closer to launch, as the company prepares to enter India’s fast-growing electric SUV segment.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella EV marks Toyota’s official step into the country’s mass-market EV space, with a focus on range, features and everyday usability.

Launch timeline and expected price
Toyota has not shared a launch date yet, but the Urban Cruiser Ebella EV is expected to go on sale in 2026. Prices are likely to be announced closer to the launch.
Given its positioning and feature list, the Ebella EV is expected to sit in the mid-size electric SUV segment, competing directly with existing and upcoming models in the space.
Competition in the EV segment
Once launched, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella EV will face strong competition from electric SUVs already on sale and those lined up for India. These include the Mahindra BE6, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, VinFast VF6 and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.
With a claimed 543km range, Toyota is aiming to address range anxiety while offering familiar SUV styling and a feature-rich cabin.
Toyota’s EV push in India
The unveiling of the Ebella EV signals Toyota’s broader electric vehicle plans for India. The company has so far focused on hybrids, and the Urban Cruiser Ebella EV marks its first full-electric step in the mass market.
More details on variants, charging options and final specifications are expected in the coming months.
