After grossing $123.5 million domestically and grossing $263.7 million last weekend, Christopher Nolan’s epic film is expected to make another $84.5 million at the domestic box office. That would only represent a 32 percent drop, which is a very good percentage for a blockbuster.
No new wide-ranging release coalesced this weekend, as studios preferred to stay off the heels of Universal and Nolan, the undisputed brand-name filmmaker working today. Next weekend, you tyrant Spider-Man: A Brand New DayChampionship Odyssey Cast members and couple Tom Holland and Zendaya arrive from Sony and Marvel.
In a summer where Gen Z filmmakers are falling behind mania and Back rooms Becoming a breakout story, Nolan is an established player who has managed to capture the attention of younger audiences. Half of the opening weekend audience was between 18 and 34 years old. The film has collected $322 million worldwide.
The film was also huge on Imax and other premium format screens, with Imax accounting for 23 percent of its opening weekend volume. It is the first narrative feature filmed entirely on IMAX cameras.
The film also delves into horror through several scenes, says Nolan Hollywood Reporter The film “very much whets my appetite for more” of the genre.
