CJP Protest Live: Delhi Police learned that more than 25 students were arrested on Thursday as they headed to Jantar Mantar with protest posters. The students, including a student from Jamia Millia Islamia University and another from Delhi University, were taken to Lodhi Colony police station. Police told HT that the action was preventive in nature and was taken under the Delhi Police Act for allegedly trying to join an unlawful assembly.

Sonam Wangchuk ends quickly
Activist Sonam Wangchuk called off his 26-day hunger strike late Thursday night at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram in the presence of Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh.
He said his decision came after lengthy negotiations and appeals from lawmakers of various party affiliations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished Wangchuk a speedy recovery. “I urge Sonam ji to follow her routine as per doctors advice and regain her old weight as soon as possible. I pray that Sonam ji stays healthy,” he wrote on X.
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Debaki also welcomed Wangchuk’s decision and described his fast as an act of “extraordinary courage and sacrifice”.
He added that the protests at Jantar Mantar would continue until Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned.
Metro stations were closed on July 24
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Thursday said 17 Metro stations will remain closed for entry and exit from 7:30 am on July 24 until further orders. The affected stations are –

5. Barkhambha Road
6. The Supreme Court

The DMRC said interchange facilities will remain available at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat stations.
Why are people protesting in Jantar Mantar?
The protests, led by the CJP, demand Pradhan’s resignation over NEET paper leaks, irregularities in the examination system and student suicides.
Demands of the Justice and Development Party
On their official account on X, the Front stated:
1. Resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan.
2. $Compensation of Rs 1 crore to the families of NEET aspirants who died by suicide.
3. Failure to prosecute peaceful demonstrators.
4. All police officials involved in committing atrocities must be prosecuted.

CJP protest live: Four injured demand use of pellet guns during Delhi protest despite police denials
CJP Protest Live: Four people injured during the July 20 protests in Delhi alleged that security forces used pellets or rubber guns to disperse crowds, though Delhi Police denied using such weapons.
According to a Hindustan Times report, medico-legal case (MLC) documents from Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital indicate “suspected gunshot wound” in one case and “signs of gunshot injury” in another. A 25-year-old man and the family of a 19-year-old student also claimed that doctors told them they had suffered gunshot wounds.
Delhi Police denied using pellets or rubber guns. A senior Delhi Police officer said the Rapid Action Force carries anti-riot equipment, including pellet guns, but declined to comment on the CRPF equipment. Meanwhile, the CRPF has not officially commented, although a senior official, speaking anonymously, said the RAF was tasked with carrying pellet guns and “may have used them for crowd control”.
If confirmed, this would be the first known use of pellet guns in Delhi, as these weapons were previously linked to crowd control operations in Jammu and Kashmir, the report said. (Read more here)
