Pakistan on Thursday refused to comment on the ongoing protests by the Janta Sarwar party, describing it as an internal matter for India.

In response to a question about whether the Indian administration’s “severe treatment” of protesters in India represents a human rights violation, Pakistani Foreign Affairs spokesman Tahir Andrabi said: “This is an internal matter for India. We do not provide comments on such matters.”

The Justice and Development Party continues its protests

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Thursday continued its protest for the 34th consecutive day, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged NEET-UG papers leak.

Thousands of supporters continued to gather at the protest site in Jantar Mantar. Turnout has increased since the party’s Sansad Chalo rally on July 20, during which clashes broke out between protesters and police, with reports claiming that security personnel resorted to lathi and tear gas.

In response to the ongoing protests, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced the government’s decision to set up fast-track courts to ensure “swift and stringent punishment” for those involved in the paper leak.

The government approached CJP 4 times

Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Thursday said the government is ready to talk to the CJP either at the residence or office of Union Health Minister JP Nadda.

“Wherever you want we can discuss, whether at Nada ji’s home or office,” Singh said. He also said that the government has approached the CJP four times so far.

“I and Union Health Minister JP Nadda will be present for the discussions. Slowly, through discussion, we will move towards the solution,” Singh said, adding: “We are not standing on prestige.”

However, the CJP refused to speak at Nadda’s residence or office and called for a neutral venue to speak. Party spokesman Ashutosh Ranka said they approached the government at Jantar Mantar for talks but the proposal was rejected.

“Minister Jitendra Singh tweeted that they have approached us four times and that the CJP can speak anytime it wants. We asked them to come to Jantar Mantar. They refused. They asked us to come to JP Nadda’s house,” Ranka said.

Earlier, party spokesperson Sourav Das had indicated the party’s willingness to hold talks at a “neutral” venue, suggesting the Constitution Club of India as a possible location.

“We are not going to anyone’s house or office. The Janta Darbar meeting is being held here and if the ministers want to talk, they should come to the people. The discussion should take place at Jantar Mantar,” Das said.
