The days of Jamie Campbell Bower playing Vecna are very much over. The “Strange Things” alum is set to enter the world of a new fantasy series in the third season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.”On Thursday, the actor made his first appearance as Celeborn, the lord of the elves and husband of Galadriel, played by actress Morfydd Clarke.
Bauer steps into Tolkien’s world
The casting, which has been the subject of fan speculation for months, has been confirmed with the official first look shared on Empire Magazine. This drop finally ended weeks of rumors about Bauer’s mysterious role in the upcoming season.Sharing the look, he wrote: “Feeling so happy and grateful to be joining this show and this amazing universe. X”
Sauron and Gandalf First looks are dropping online
The first look at Celeborn comes just one day after the filmmakers released first looks at Daniel Wyman as Gandalf and Charlie Vickers as the Dark Lord Sauron.
About Celeborn
Bower takes on the role of Celeborn, a famous Elven warrior and noble, who is also the husband of Morfydd Clark’s Galadriel. Although this will be the first time fans get a glimpse of the character, he was teased in Season 1, Episode 7 while talking to Theo. She reveals that he left her home and husband to fight in the wars against Morgoth and never returned.The character Celeborn was previously portrayed by Marton Csokas in Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings” film trilogy, opposite Cate Blanchett.
Describing his interpretation of the character, Bower told Empire, “This idea of longing and nostalgia is so prevalent in Tolkien’s relationship with Edith at the time they were apart. I really enjoyed that idea. Celeborn had to find a way to survive while longing for something that he loved deeply and missed deeply as well.”
Meeting of Galadriel and Celeborn
How The Rings of Power will introduce Celeborn remains one of the biggest mysteries heading into Season 3.
In Tolkien’s legend, Celeborn and Galadriel were married during the First Age. However, within the timeline of The Rings of Power, the two characters are separated by centuries.Clarke said she enjoyed exploring their relationship on screen and praised Power’s casting. “She’s kind of rude to him in the books,” she said with a laugh. “She’s the Queen! But Jaime looks exactly as I imagine Celeborn.”

Showrunners praise the casting
Series creators J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay revealed that they reviewed hundreds of audition tapes before casting Bower for the role.“He has this rich, hypnotic, resonant voice that feels like it carries the wisdom of the ages buried within it,” Payne explained.“Then we read chemistry,” he added [with Clark]And immediately he felt like he loved her very much. It felt so natural, so organic, so right.”
Season 3 arrives in November
Season 3 of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is set to premiere on Prime Video on November 11. The series has been planned for five seasons.
