Mike Judge (Foolishness) We must have seen the same thing we all saw in Benicio Del Toro’s “A Little Little Beer” sobriety test scene in Battle after battle.
Del Toro has been cast as the star of an upcoming Apple TV comedy series Preventive detentionalso starring and executive produced by Ben Stiller. Judge Steve Healy and Dave King will write the series, which marks del Toro’s first lead role in a comedy series.
Preventive detention The film follows “a disgraced financier accused of massive fraud is placed in protective custody, where he must navigate prison politics, salvage his reputation, and face the consequences of his actions while awaiting trial,” according to the synopsis.
Apple won’t say whether Del Toro or Stiller (or anyone else!) is that disgraced financier. Preventive detention is a reunion of Del Toro and Stiller after their excellent limited series Escape in Dannemora (2018). Judge will direct the series, which hails from Apple Studios, Stiller’s Red Hour, Propagate Content, and 3 Arts Entertainment. In addition to Stiller, John Lesher will executive produce Red Hour; Ben Silverman, Howard Owens and Rodney Ferrell are executive producers of Propagate Content; Michael Rothenberg and Uli Obst executive produce for 3 Arts Entertainment. Nanette Burstein also serves as executive producer.
Stiller is one of Apple TV’s most prolific producers. He frequently produces and directs episodes of TV series to cutAnd Stiller’s documentary about his parents, Stiller and Meara: Nothing is lostalso present on the platform. Stiller is producing and starring in the upcoming feature comedy Dink for Apple TV, and is in production for its own limited series Weeks outwhich stars and executive produces opposite Jessica Chastain. (There is still no information about the Chastain series Savant!)
