Opposition MPs express their gratitude for Sonam Wangchuk’s dedication to youth and environmental issues, and urge him to end his hunger strike.
A delegation of opposition lawmakers visited Medanta Hospital on Wednesday to meet climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and appeal to him to end his ongoing hunger strike.
The delegation included young representatives from the opposition parties, along with Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay. Opposition lawmakers also delivered a letter addressed to Wangchuk expressing their support for his efforts and asking him to reverse his fast. Singh and leaders from AAP, RJD, CPI and JMM.

Sharing an update on the visit, Rajiv Rai said, “On the directions of His Excellency National President Ji, leaving my residence along with the young MPs of my party, as well as His Excellency Mr. @SanjayAzadSln Ji and Hon’ble Members of Parliament from AAP, RJD, CPI and JMM, to appeal to Shri Sonam Wangchuk Ji to end his fast at Medanta Hospital.”
Opposition leaders write to Wangchuk
Opposition lawmakers also delivered a letter addressed to Wangchuk expressing their support for his efforts and asking him to reverse his fast.
In the letter, the MPs said they had “deep respect, appreciation and gratitude” for Wangchuk’s commitment to the cause of India’s youth, environmental protection and educational reforms.

“Your struggle transcends any single issue; it is a struggle for the future of our children and for the ideals on which a strong, enlightened and just India must be built,” they wrote.
The letter also appealed to him to end his indefinite fast, saying: “At this critical juncture, we strongly appeal to you to end your indefinite fast. Your message of reform in the education system has been heard and received across the country.”
“The country needs you”
Opposition lawmakers said the nation needs Wangchuk’s guidance and wisdom, especially young people who look to him for inspiration.

“The nation, especially its youth, needs your wisdom and guidance far more than your sacrifices,” they wrote.
The letter also said: “Just as the Union Territory of Ladakh needs Sonam Wangchuk, India also needs you, not in suffering, but in service; in serving those causes that will benefit generations to come.”
Meanwhile, the CJP and its founder Abhijit Debke also appealed to Wangchuk to end his hunger strike, stressing that the movement will continue until the demands are met.
