A First Information Report (FIR) was registered on Wednesday in Goa during a candlelight march held on Monday and Tuesday at Miramar Beach in Goa in solidarity with thousands of students participating in the KJP-led protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
“The unidentified supporters/protesters of CJP with their common objective formed an unlawful assembly and without taking prior permission from the competent authority organized the protest on the pretext of solidarity for the removal of Sonam Wangchuk from his hunger strike,” said the complaint filed by Nilesh Salgaonkar, joint representative and executive magistrate of Tiswadi.
The FIR has been registered under Sections 189 (unlawful assembly) and 190 (every member of an unlawful assembly is guilty of an offense in prosecution of a common object) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Protesters gathered at Azad Maidan on Wednesday evening in solidarity with the ongoing protests in New Delhi.
Meanwhile, the local unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a protest march and gathered around the Congress headquarters to condemn the latter over his statements promoting “sponsored anarchy and artificial chaos” in the country.
State BJP president Damodar Naik said that opposition leader in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi’s protest outside the Prime Minister’s residence was nothing but an assault on the country. The Bharatiya Janata Party denounced Gandhi and called for the restoration of law and order.

Earlier on Monday, state BJP vice president Narendra Sawaikar came under fire after he referred to the protesters as “not just cockroaches, but also termites”.
“Cockroaches (sic) with termites! Save the nation!”, Sawaikar, a former MP representing South Goa constituency and current NRI Commissioner, wrote on X. Alongside this, he posted an AI-generated image of cockroaches and termites munching on a map of India that had been modified to look like a piece of rotting wood.
He posted the same photo on Facebook, writing: “It’s not just cockroaches, it’s termites!” While the Facebook post has been deleted, X’s post is still online.
