Jojo George claims the lead actor and his wife ran PR against him; Many Mollywood personalities are allegedly using paid PR
Actor Jojo George has made serious allegations against an unnamed star couple. Speaking during an Instagram live session held in connection with the release of his latest film ‘Varavu’, the actor claimed that a prominent Malayalam actor and his wife were running a PR campaign against him. Without naming anyone, Jojo claimed that the campaign was deliberately aimed at damaging his image. He also noted that such practices are not limited to one individual or family in the industry.According to the actor, paid promotions are becoming increasingly common in Malayalam cinema. But he did not identify any of the people he was referring to.

During the live interaction, Jojo expanded on his claims by claiming that several well-known personalities from the Malayalam film industry are using paid PR strategies.
“I am aware of such activities, but I will not reveal any names or provide further details,” he said.The actor’s comments came at a time when Varavu was facing mixed and negative reactions after his theatrical release. The film, directed by Shaji Kailas, has been receiving criticism for its 1990s style of storytelling and execution, which a majority of viewers have described as outdated.

Aside from his allegations of paid PR activities, Jojo also addressed what he described as a coordinated negative campaign targeting Faravu.
According to him, the criticism surrounding the film is not entirely organic. He claimed that organized efforts were made to influence public opinion against the project after its release.Varavu, directed by Shaji Kailas, is set against the backdrop of the high ranges of Kerala. The script has been written by AK Sajan, who has previously collaborated with Shaji Kailas in Chinthamani Kolacase and Red Chillies.‘Varavu’ registers modest opening at box officeMeanwhile, Varavu recorded a modest start at the domestic box office. According to a report by Filmibeat, the film collected an estimated Rs 51 lakh across India on its opening day. According to the figures published by the Cine Times X page, the film sold approximately 10.31 lakh tickets during the advance booking period. On the first day of release, another 25.58 lakh tickets were sold, taking the total ticket sales to around 35.89 lakh.Apart from Joju George, Varavu’s film also stars Sanya Ayyappan, Arjun Ashokan and Murali Gopi in pivotal roles.
