Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge demanded that the government immediately allow full discussion on the issue in Parliament
Congress President and Leader of the Opposition Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday criticized the government in the Upper House over the alleged attack on protesters with batons and tear gas at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The Rajya Sabha session was adjourned till noon, and then again until 2 pm, after Kharge raised the issue of paper leak in the National Eligibility Test (NEET-UG).
“Yesterday a very tragic incident occurred. In this unfortunate incident, our students – who were raising their voices over paper leakage and NEET exam – were clubbed, tear gassed and beaten up,” Kharge posted on his official X account.
In view of this, Kharge also decided not to celebrate his birthday on Tuesday.

Thousands gathered at Jantar Mantar on Monday ahead of the Kokroch Janta Party (CJP)’s scheduled march to Parliament to demand Pradhan’s resignation.
The police resorted to using batons to disperse the crowd. Delhi Police refused to authorize the march and imposed prohibitory orders throughout the New Delhi area.
“I am talking about the future of thousands of students. That is why thousands of children came to Jantar Mantar. There was a baton charge. The government is trying to harm them. It is trying to suppress them,” Karji said during the first day of the monsoon session.
