Police said Mina, who was fired in February for financial misconduct, entered the home early on the morning of April 22 using advance knowledge of a spare key while the victim was alone, and raped her.

The victim, an Indian Institute of Technology graduate who was preparing for the civil services exam, was found by her parents when they returned from the gym at around 8 am, and she was declared brought dead when she was rushed to a nearby hospital.

According to the indictment, Mina allegedly raped the woman and strangled her with a mobile phone charging cable after she resisted his demand for money. Then he stole the cash estimated between $2 and 2.5 thousand, dressed as the victim’s brother and fled the scene.

The sources said that the indictment stated that the fingerprints, palm prints, and thumb prints extracted from the crime scene matched the fingerprints of the accused, and that his DNA matched the samples collected from the victim’s body. Police have listed 82 witnesses to determine the sequence of events.

Meena was arrested from a hotel in Dwarka on the same evening after CCTV footage showed him entering the apartment complex at 6:30 am and leaving at 7:20 am.

A senior police officer said that Meena had a gambling habit and had debts $5-7 lakh from online gaming apps. During interrogation, he allegedly told investigators that he went to the house “just to ask for money” and that the crime “just happened,” the police officer said.

The victim’s father is a senior IPS officer and her mother is a dentist.
