“Take off the uniform and compete in the elections”: the open challenge that the Pakistani MP presents to his army

Pakistani politician and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl president Maulana Fazlur Rehman has delivered a scathing criticism of the Pakistani army and government, accusing them of failing to maintain order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, while warning that the country’s Pashtun areas are “drowning in blood.”“The country is collapsing. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today, there is no government. After the sun sets in the west, until the sun rises in the morning, the police do not leave their stations. If the police do not leave their stations, the streets will be handed over to armed groups, and the streets and roads will be at the mercy of the bandits,” Fazal said during a rally in Punjab, Pakistan.

He addressed the army directly: “I know your authority in my province – you have no government.

You sit inside your big huts in the capitals, cross-legged, thinking that you are the rulers. “At the very least, in my district, you have no government.”

Criticism of the Baloch and Pashtun region

Fazal said that Balochistan had already fallen out of government control and the Pashtun region was now following suit. “In Balochistan, in the Baloch areas, there have been insurgencies; the entire Baloch region has gone out of Pakistan’s control. Even today, there is no order from the Pakistani government there.

But we were blocking the Baloch area. Now the Pashtun region is also drowning in blood.”He described the human losses, saying: “In the Pashtun region, in two or three days we received more than fifty bodies. All we did in the markets was buy shrouds for our loved ones. All we did was funeral our loved ones.”

Criticism of the military

Fadl attacked the military and accused them of failing to protect citizens despite receiving their salaries from public taxes.

“Your young men who have become martyrs – they have strapped on their uniforms for this very reason, they are taking their salaries for this very reason – that they have to fight for the security of the country. What favor are you doing me by shedding your blood on me? You are taking your salary from the taxes of my blood and my race for this very reason.

He added: “I have not received any salary, and I will not form any army. You will leave, but you are pushing my country towards personal revenge for generations to come, and pushing it towards killing and plundering forever and ever.”

Explain this policy to someone else; Don’t try to explain to us.”Fadl challenged the army to enter politics directly. “If you want to practice politics, take off your uniform and come and participate in the elections, and it will become clear what votes people give to those in uniform. It is your right to give government to whomever you want, and take it away from whomever you want.”

A petition is filed against Fadl because of his statements

A petition was submitted to the court against Fadl over his statements, with the petitioner saying that the speech hurt the feelings of the general public and caused suffering to the families of the martyrs.

The court requested a response from the National Counter-Terrorism Authority by August 17.Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif expressed his disappointment and described Fazl’s words as “unfair.” “Describing such an unparalleled sacrifice as mere salary compensation is not fair, does not comply with the requirements of morality, and is not in line with Islamic teachings,” Pakistani Planning Minister Ihsan Iqbal posted on X.
