Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) annual interest for the financial year 2025-26 at 8.25 per cent has been added to around 34 crore members’ accounts. The amount was deposited on Wednesday (July 15), as announced earlier by Union Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.

“Annual interest for FY26 at the rate of 8.25 per cent to Rs 34 lakh crore, which is estimated to be over Rs 1.44 lakh crore, will be automatically processed,” Mansukh Mandaviya said. (@X/ @mansukhmandviya)

How to check interest balance of EPFO ​​account?

Account holders can check their balance to check the interest added to their EPFO ​​accounts. Users can check their EPF balance through EPFO ​​members’ e-Sewa portal, UMANG app and SMS service.

To check interest balance through e-Sewa:

• Users need to go to the EPFO ​​passbook portal.

• Log in with your 12-digit UAN (Universal Account Number) and password, then enter the verification code to log in.

• Enter the One Time Password (OTP) sent to the mobile number linked to Aadhaar

• Select Member (Company) ID to view Passbook and scroll down to Latest Entries.

• The last deposited amount will appear as an entry like “Interest updated as of 07/15/2026”

To check balance through the UMANG app, account holders must:

• Users need to download the UMANG app from their phone’s app store.

• Open the app and search for EPFO ​​in the list of government service providers.

• Go to “Employee Central Services” and select “View Passbook”.

• Enter UAN and click on “Get OTP”.

• Enter one-time password to log in and view updated balance.

To check updated balance via SMS, users need to send a message in this format: EPFOHO. The text message should be sent to 7738299899 from their registered number in UAN.

Interest payments were processed in October and November after government approval. Mandavia had previously explained that the East Africa office had moved away from its previous decentralized setup, where each field office maintained a separate database. All these elements have been migrated to a single database, with member records now available across the country through a unified digital platform.
