‘Krishnavataram’ Sanskruti actress Jayana, granddaughter of Anandiben Patel, Governor of Uttar Pradesh and former Chief Minister of Gujarat, recently welcomed viewers to her stunning heritage home in Gujarat.

More than just a luxury residence, this hotel is a tribute to India’s diverse craftsmanship tradition, with almost every item handcrafted by skilled artisans. From intricately designed wall prints and handcrafted pillows to bedsheets, tablecloths and decorative pieces, every corner of the home displays exceptional craftsmanship. Sanskruti revealed that many of the artworks displayed throughout the residence took months, and in some cases, even years to complete.

A traditional haveli built around family and craftsmanship

The house follows a classic Gujarati haveli design, centered around a courtyard that keeps the family connected across the floors. On a home tour with Mashable India, Sanskruti explained that her parents wanted the design to reflect this openness, with hallways connecting the levels so that “even the person standing upstairs can be part of the conversations happening downstairs.”“It was my father’s vision to build the house like a traditional Gujarati haveli,” says the actress.

Every house in Gujarat has a central courtyard where the family gathers. The floors are interconnected by open walkways, so even someone standing upstairs can be part of the conversations taking place below.”This spirit of connection extends to the home decor as well, much of which is handcrafted and a direct result of her mother’s decades-long relationship with artisans across the country. “My mother has been working with craftspeople for 25 years.

I grew up around them. “Everything in this house is handmade,” Sanskruti shared.

A wall of wisdom, inspirational quotes and kachi-inspired design

One prominent feature is the wall dedicated to honoring leaders who shaped India, which the family calls the “Wall of Wisdom.” Elsewhere, inspirational quotes are woven onto walls, hallways and outdoor walkways throughout the property, aiming to motivate anyone who passes through. The walls of the house also bear design elements inspired by Kachchi border embroidery, giving the space a distinct Gujarati visual identity, along with scriptures, miniature artworks and old wedding paraphernalia repurposed as decorative pieces.

Sustainable in design and a nod to its grandfather, “Mr. Toilet”.

Sustainability runs through the home’s DNA. Sanskruti described the property as built for “conscious living,” pointing to rainwater harvesting, solar energy, and other eco-friendly practices that go into everyday life. This spirit shows up in unexpected places too, as even the bathrooms have individual color themes, motivational quotes and mini libraries, details Sanskruti associates with her grandfather, who she said was “popularly known as ‘Mr Toilet’” after winning the Padma Shri for his work on sanitation.“Our house is designed for conscious living. It is completely eco-friendly. We collect rainwater, use solar panels to generate electricity and follow practices that help us coexist with nature,” Sanskruti said.

Open kitchens, pizza oven and “gratitude walk”

The home’s open kitchen flows into a dining area and outdoor seating space, perfect for the monsoon months, while a separate outdoor kitchen area hosts family gatherings, cookouts and bonfires including, in Sanskruti’s words, family pizza nights thanks to the property’s custom pizza oven.Perhaps the most distinctive space is the “Walk of Gratitude,” a path lined with inscriptions expressing thanks for nature, its five elements, and life itself, and designed to encourage reflection. The hotel also includes dedicated meditation and yoga spaces, complementing its focus on mindful living.
