The United States launches new strikes – US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that US fighter jets, drones and naval ships carried out a seven-hour operation on Iran. Dozens of military targets were bombed near the Strait of Hormuz and along the Iranian coast. The strikes targeted missile sites, drones, naval capabilities, and coastal defense systems.
“U.S. forces remain vigilant, lethal, and prepared to conduct operations directed by the Commander-in-Chief,” US Central Command wrote on the X website.
Resuming the naval blockade US Central Command said that US forces have resumed the naval blockade of ships traveling to and from Iranian ports. The blockade officially went into effect at 4 PM ET (1:30 AM EST on July 15).
Iran says the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed – The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed “until the end of America’s evils,” the Associated Press reported. They said in a statement that the United States struck Iranian bases “under the pretext of striking violating ships,” referring to ships trying to cross the vital waterway, “to hide their defeat and helplessness.”

Targeting the logistics center in Kuwait Iran said it bombed the US Army’s support and logistics center in Mina Abdullah, Kuwait, during the fourth phase of Operation Nasr 2, according to the Associated Press. There was no confirmation.
Bombing the Jordanian air base – The Iranian military said that explosive drones targeted areas housing US F-18 fighter jets and equipment hangars at Jordan’s Azraq Air Base as part of the eighth phase of Operation Thunderbolt, Al Jazeera reported.
Iraqi militias threaten to join the war Abu Mujahid Al-Assaf, an official in the Iranian-backed Hezbollah Brigades, said that any new war against Iran would lead to an “immediate and certain” response from the Iraqi resistance.
Abu Mujahid Al-Assaf said in a statement carried by the Iranian Fars News Agency: “If a war is waged against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the participation of the resistance forces will be immediate and certain. This decision is rooted in our faith and is non-negotiable.”
America is pressuring Iraq regarding the militias – US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth asked Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi to disarm militias allied with Iran. “Iraq must assert its sovereignty and disarm the Iran-allied militias responsible for more than 600 attacks on American personnel this spring,” Hegseth wrote in X.
New sanctions were announced – US Treasury Secretary Scott Besent said Washington has frozen more than $130 million in cryptocurrency wallets allegedly linked to Iran’s central bank under the new sanctions, CNN reported.
Oil prices are rising – Brent crude rose to $86.19 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate crude rose to $80.40 per barrel after the fourth night of US-Israel hostilities, Bloomberg reported.
