Fanatics Studios is entering the documentary genre with what it hopes will be the perfect tenth feature.

The joint venture between Fanatics and OBB, along with Cookie Jar & a Dream Studios, Dick’s Sporting Goods’ in-house production studio, has greenlit a documentary following Olympic gold medalist gymnast Sunny Lee’s return to competition. Hollywood Reporter I’ve learned. The documentary is untitled and is being marketed on platforms.

Lee was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease that nearly ended her career in 2023, two years after her breakthrough at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (postponed due to Covid), where she won the all-around gold and uneven bars bronze. After Lee returned for the 2024 Paris Olympics, adding two more bronze medals to her trophy and a team gold medal, there was much speculation that she would retire. Well, she didn’t.

“This is more than just a documentary; it’s an invitation to join the journey. I know there’s more in me, and this is my chance to challenge myself, test my limits, and see what I’m truly capable of,” he told me. “It’s not about proving anyone wrong. It’s about showing up for myself and discovering what’s possible. Through setbacks and victories, I give myself another chance to see what happens when I keep going.”

The 2028 Summer Olympics are being held on home soil in Los Angeles – just saying.

“We created Fanatics Studios to bring fans closer than ever to the groundbreaking and beloved stories in sports,” said Michael D. We are proud to partner with Suni and the Cookie Jar & a Dream Studios to capture this defining chapter of her life and career.”

The documentary is produced by Michael D. Ratner, Scott Ratner, Kfir Goldberg, and Raquel Dominguez for Fanatic Studios.
