Jos Buttler etched his name into the record books on Saturday, overtaking MS Dhoni to become the wicket-keeper with the most sixes in international cricket. The England batsman achieved the feat during his 131 off 64 balls against India in the fifth T20I at the Rose Bowl. Buttler smashed eight sixes in his innings, taking his career tally to 366 ODIs and surpassing Dhoni’s long-standing mark of 359.

The 35-year-old reached a style milestone as he turned back the years with one of the best knocks of his T20I career, helping England thrash India by 56 runs and complete a historic 4-0 clean sweep in the five-match series. Buttler’s innings, which included 12 fours and eight sixes, was his second T20I century and the highest score of his T20 international career. Brook narrowly missed out on a century, finishing unbeaten with 95 off just 45 balls as England compiled 257 for 3. India’s reply never seriously threatened the target despite half-centuries from Ishan Kishan (56) and Tilak Varma (53). The visitors finished on 201 for 8 as England secured a comprehensive victory.

Brook would match eight sixes for Buttler, with the duo combining for 16 maximums between them. In comparison, India managed just eight sixes as a team.
