A video of an accident in Vietnam, in which at least 15 Indian tourists were killed, shows a boat capsized, with rescuers surrounding it, near Hon My Rout Ngoi island off Vietnam’s Phu Quoc on Saturday.
A local journalist shared the photos – which have not been independently verified by HT – with the caption: “A speedboat carrying 32 Indian tourists sank near Hon May Rut Ngoai, Phu Quoc, at around 10.30am on July 11.” She added that 18 people were rescued and the official death toll has not yet been confirmed. But the authorities later reported that the death toll reached 15 people.
The Indian embassy said it is in contact with local authorities and is monitoring the situation closely.
She said helplines have been set up at the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City and at the embassy in Hanoi to provide information and assistance.
