Pitbull sets a record for the largest gathering of people wearing bald hats
Before his performance at BST Festival, thousands of concertgoers surrounded the main stage. It was later revealed that the number was a staggering 22,141, with the rapper expressing his gratitude as an “honour” and “blessing”.
Accepting the award, the “Fireball” rapper told the BBC: “Who would have thought that first generation Cubans would be able to be in London breaking records and setting a Guinness World Record.”
The ‘Hotel Room Service’ hitmaker thanked ‘The Baldies’ fans for their support. According to Will Munford, the official adjudicator of Guinness World Records, Pitbull himself had to wear a bald hat to be counted in the record, as the record was for “largest gathering of people wearing bald hats” and not “largest gathering of bald people.”
400 volunteers individually screened the public at the entrance and on site, as well as drone footage reviewed by 42 counters, according to The Guardian. Creator Jake Remington brought up the idea last year, hoping Pitbull would join in. He and popular host Greg James texted the rapper for his approval, and he thoughtfully said: “Dale!” (Spanish for “hit it” or “move on”)Many fans talked about selling bald hats at cosplay shops, while others expressed their excitement at being part of the whole plan.
