Peter van Norden, actor who appeared in the film Police Academy and Naked gun Movies, Matt. He was 75 years old.
Van Norden’s son, Robert, announced that his father died on Thursday.
“Peter passed away peacefully last night with his wife Wendy by his side,” Robert wrote in an Instagram post. “He was a wonderful father, husband, friend and a well-respected member of the theater community. He will be missed.”
Born December 16, 1950, Van Norden first received his acting credit in the late 1970s in comedies Play pressure. He appeared in several film projects, including the 1985 film Police Academy Follow up with title Their first mission. There, Van Norden played policeman Vinnie Shtulman, Steve Guttenberg’s first partner, Carrie Mahoney.
Another sequel, act in a second Naked gun film in 1991, where he took on the role of John Sununu, former White House chief of staff to President George H.W.
On the small screen, he acted Three crowd of people (1985); episode of Silver spoons; 1991 episode of Matlock; Los Angeles Law (1990-1992); Attitude; Murder, she wrote (1989-1996); Two episodes in 2004 of Days of our lives; and 9-1-1 (2019).
Van Norden’s film credits include accused; An innocent man; Love hurts; hanky dory; and West Virginiaamong other things.
Outside of film and television, Van Norden has had an extensive career, appearing in numerous Broadway, off-Broadway, and regional productions. His Broadway stints included features in St. Joan, Macbeth, Little Johnny Jones, Romeo and Juliet and Inspector General. He performed his last theatrical role last year in… Corktown ’39 At the Matrix Theater in Los Angeles.
Van Norden was also part of the actors’ workshop at The Rehearsal Room, which “helps.”[s] Actors and artists develop their careers through challenging material. Last August, he participated in the deconstruction of Shakespeare’s works Richard III.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy, and their son, Robert.
