'Just a shame': RCB star reveals Virat Kohli was secretly filmed during private encounter

Jordan Cox feels sorry for Virat Kohli (Image: X)

England batsman Jordan Cox has expressed his disappointment at the lack of privacy afforded to Virat Kohli, revealing that the former India captain was secretly photographed during what was supposed to be a quiet catch-up in London.

Cox, who met his Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) teammate and mentor ahead of his England Test debut at The Oval last month, said neither of them realized they had been photographed until photos of the meeting surfaced online hours later.According to Cox, the couple enjoyed a peaceful meeting at a café, where hundreds of people passed by without being interrupted. However, the privacy they thought they had was short-lived.

“People follow him without him knowing.”

“The annoying thing for him was that people were following him without him knowing. Hundreds of people walked by, no one stopped, no one did anything. But after about two hours, he texted me saying, ‘Have you seen all these pictures?’ “I was like, ‘What the hell?’” Cox told The Guardian. The English player admitted that he feels sorry for Kohli, saying that the Indian star rarely gets a chance to enjoy a normal life away from the cricket field.

“It’s unfortunate that so many people want a piece of him. He just wants to stay under the radar and have fun and live a normal life. Unfortunately, that’s not always possible,” he added.

“Always wants to help others”

While Kohli is widely known for his ferocious power on the field, Cox said he is a completely different person behind the scenes. The youngster praised Kohli for the time he invested in helping him during their time together at Royal Challengers Bengaluru, describing the Indian great as one of the most selfless senior players he has faced.“The most special thing about the ISL was the amount of time he gave me as a player, and for someone who has achieved so much, how much he gives overall. Some players focus on their own game, but he is someone who always wants to help others before helping himself. That is very rare,” Cox concluded.

Virat returns for ODI series against England

Virat Kohli is set to make his return to international cricket when India begins the three-match ODI series against England on July 14, after the conclusion of the ongoing T20I series.

Before shifting focus to the ODI series, India have one last chance to end their disappointing T20I campaign on a positive note. Shreyas Iyer’s side trail the five-match series 3-0 after suffering back-to-back defeats and are aiming to avoid a series whitewash in the fifth and final T20I in Southampton.England, on the other hand, have a lot to play for even though they have already sealed the series. Harry Brook’s men are gunning for a dominant 4-0 win, and with a win in the final, they could also leapfrog India to become the No. 1 ranked T20I team in the ICC rankings.
