Paramount’s untitled film adapts Jew Mercado’s comic strip about a mishap during a family vacation.

An upcoming animated film from Paramount Pictures based on the comics Freddy the 13th It has scored the appropriate release date.
The studio announced Thursday that it will release director Dan Trachtenberg’s untitled family horror-comedy on October 13, 2028 — which, of course, is a Friday. The Paramount animated film is based on the Jew Mercado comic strip Freddy the 13thwith Mercado exploiting co-routing.
Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) and Ben Rosenblatt serve as producers for the film that focuses on a family vacation that takes a bad turn when beloved Uncle Freddy accidentally kills the bogeyman and adopts his powers.
The project was first announced last month during the Annecy International Film Festival, with Paramount describing the film as offering “good scares and laughs for the whole family.”
After announcing the feature, Mercado took to Instagram to celebrate starting work with Trachtenberg and the studio. “I’m so excited to have found a team crazy enough to want to make a horror comedy for the whole family,” he wrote at the time. “Most of all, I’m grateful that I never gave up on my dreams. Thank you Paramount Animation! Let’s get scary!”
Trachtenberg, who recently signed a first-look directing and producing deal with Paramount, has experience in feature animation. He drove Predator: Killer of assassinswhich launched on Hulu last summer and served as the world’s first animated title predator privilege.
The director is also known for directing two other films in predator Series: 2022 victim And last year Predator: Badlandswith the latter starring Elle Fanning. His television work includes Black mirror, Boys and Missing symbol.
