Vishnu Nagar police arrested Ramesh Mhatre on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting doctors at Shastri Nagar Hospital on Tuesday night. Earlier today, police arrested three of his accomplices in connection with the incident.

According to the police, the accident occurred after a woman in the ninth month of her pregnancy suffered complications related to childbirth. Since there were no vacant beds in the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit, doctors advised her family to transfer her to another hospital for further treatment.

After learning about the matter, Mhatre reached the hospital with his supporters and allegedly assaulted the doctors on duty, causing widespread outrage among the medical fraternity.
The police booked Mhatre under Sections 132 and 121 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The three accused were transferred to police custody.

Meanwhile, Aditya Thackeray and Rohit Pawar visited Shastri Nagar Hospital and met the attacked doctors and their parents, expressing their support to the victims.
Aditya Thackeray demanded strict action against Mhatre, he should be expelled from the Shiv Sena and he should be banned from contesting any elections in the future.
