A married woman, who was visiting her parents, was killed by her husband at her mother’s house in Nawada village in Muzaffarpur, police said on Monday.

The accused allegedly slaughtered his wife with a knife before fleeing. The deceased has been identified as Rinku Kumari, a mother of two young children.
According to the police, the incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Rajipur police station. The victim’s matrimonial home is located at Harnahi, under Barurag police station area.

Giving details of the case, Abhijeet Kaur, Saraya sub-division police officer, said that the husband had reached his in-laws’ house just a day before the incident to meet his wife.
“A case of murder by cutting throat has been uncovered. The married woman was visiting her mother’s house, and a day before, her husband arrived to meet his wife and ran away after slitting her throat,” SDPO Kaur said.
Immediately upon receiving information about the crime, the police arrived at the scene and summoned the Forensic Science Laboratory team to collect evidence.

The officer added that the investigation is underway and a manhunt has been launched to arrest the accused.
