The Delhi High Court on Monday issued notice to the Center after members and employees of Gymkhana Club in Delhi filed a petition challenging a show cause notice issued to the club to vacate. The petition was filed by long-time club member Vijay Khurana, along with the Employees Welfare Association, challenging the show cause notice.

Responding to the court’s directions, the Centre’s Solicitor General Tushar Mehta sought time to file a reply. He also said the notice requires the club representative to appear before the property administrator on or before July 7.

The government issued a notice to the Lutyens Club in Delhi almost a month after it assured the Delhi HC that any eviction would be done only in accordance with the law and after prior notice.

In its order issued on Monday, the Delhi High Court set July 28 as the date for the next hearing.

This is a breaking news story. It will be updated.
