The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust will meet in Ayodhya on Monday to take a decision on the resignation of its general secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Kumar Mishra in connection with the case of theft of donations from the Ram Mandir, and major administrative decisions are also expected to be taken.

The meeting will start at 3 pm at the Yatri Suvidha Kendra at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Complex. Trust members are expected to attend in person or virtually.

Trustees Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati, Yogpurush Swami Parmanand and Krishnamohan have already arrived in Ayodhya to attend the meeting.

Treasurers Govind Dev Giri, Nripendra Misra and Swami Vishwaprasanathirth are also expected to reach Ayodhya before the meeting begins.

Senior Advocate and Trustee K Parasaran, along with some other members, will participate virtually.

Trustee Mahant Dinendra Das, a resident of Ayodhya, left for Gujarat on Monday to visit his ailing teacher and will attend the meeting online.

The ex-officio members of the Trust representing the Uttar Pradesh government – Ayodhya District Magistrate Shashank Tripathi and Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad – will attend the meeting in person. The Centre’s representative, Additional Secretary, Union Home Ministry, Prashant Lokhande, is expected to join virtually.

In the wake of the donation theft controversy, the trust is also expected to take major decisions on the management of the Ram Mandir. There is also speculation that new members could be appointed to the Trust.

The alleged donation theft first reached Trust members in the first week of June and entered the public domain on June 27.

Following these revelations, the Uttar Pradesh government formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on June 13 at the request of the Fund.

After preliminary investigation, eight people have been arrested so far, all of them members of the Ram Mandir money counting team.

Those arrested are Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Ram Shankar Yadav alias Tino, Manish Yadav, Subhash Srivastava, Avinash Shukla, Rama Shankar Mishra and Karunesh Pandey.

Anukalp Mishra and Lavkush Mishra are linked to each other and also to trustee Anil Mishra, who resigned last week along with Champat Rai. Ram Shankar Yadav, one of Ray’s aides, and Manish Yadav are also linked.

So far, the Ayodhya police have busted the matter $79,85,493 of the eight accused recover cash from pigeons, haystacks and cow dung cakes.

When the Fund was formed on 5 February 2020, it had 15 members – four ex-officio and 11 others.

Of the 11, Kameshwar Chaupal and Vimlendra Mohan Pratap Mishra died in February and August 2025, respectively.

Krishna Mohan, a retired Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer, has been appointed in place of Kameshwar Chaupal in September 2025. Vimlindra Mohan Pratap Mishra’s post remains vacant.
